Today I had a very scary experience with one of their agents, Anya Capron. I was cooking lunch in my kitchen and looked out my back door and saw two people on my property walking through my yard. I’m a single female and was initially alone on the property. Anya Capron was accompanied by a male client. I asked them if I could help them. Anya Capron said she was showing the property next door. I asked her why she was on my property to show the property next door and she ignored me. I asked her again and she said it was Crown Land. Which it is clearly not. I understand the waterfront is Crown Land, but to get there, she cut directly across my property and used my pathway to the water. I said they were on our property and to knock on the front door next time so I know to tie my dogs up (luckily my dogs were already inside and secured). Anya Capron ignored me and kept walking away. I asked Anya Capron if she heard me and she continued to ignore me and walk along our property. I then asked them to leave and she refused to leave saying she was on public property. I said that was fine but how were they planning on exiting? Cutting across my property again? (Which she did to exit). She refused to answer. Anya Capron said she would leave when I gave her my name. She was extremely rude and aggressive. Yelling at me about how I am not “from here” so I don’t know the rules. Anya Capron asked me my name again and threatened me saying that she would “have someone come teach me how things work here on island” . I called my property manager immediately and passed the phone to her. Anya Capron spoke to the property manager and when she was finished, she put my phone in the dirt and walked away and left the gate open so my dogs could escape. I cannot believe this is how Anya Capron conducts themselves while attempting to do business. It is very scary to see people by our pool with no prior knowledge while cooking lunch. Seeing someone unexpectedly was quite jarring. Then to have Anya Capron respond so aggressively and rude in front of her client was very surprising. I have two dogs and wanted to make sure they would not scare or bite people on the property and merely asked for a heads up next time which she refused to do. I cannot believe Anya Capron would so blatantly put her client at risk of bodily harm and break the law by trespassing. It was clear someone was home. She had to walk around my car to enter the property. Privacy is very important and she helped herself to entering the property with her client with no permission whatsoever. This is an embarrassment for Sotheby’s and her client. Considering the vulnerability and history of villas and crime on the island, Anya Capron was reckless and irresponsible. She put her client in a very awkward position as was extremely unprofessional in front of him yelling at me and saying how angry she was. Anya Capron has no respect for privacy or people who are guests on the island. She is a horrible representation of her brokerage.
